I'm replacing all the plywood on the roof then I'm going to reshingle. Someone told me that I should staggard the boards. Right now they fit perfect all the way across. I can fit 3 board all the way across. I seems like a hassle to have to saw the boards. Is it a real beg deal to staggard the boards? It's a old garage it doesn't have to be perfect.

I don't want to put a poison down, just want to pick up the sod and put mulch with some food for the dogwood. The ground is hard in the front yard.

My gf's apartment is poorly insulated, so this past winter it was freezing inside. Now it's not even close to how hot it's going to be this summer and her apartemtn is already blazing. We're in the process of sticking up on fans for every room, but how can we keep the heat out? Would big, heavy drapes work so heat doesn't come in through the window?

We just painted the kids room w/ water based paint. The walls are slightly textured. From what I've read, I may need to sandpaper the areas where the wallpaper border will be placed over. Is this true? Also, I'd like to have the wallpaper pattern not break around the corner of a wall. Do I have to cut at the corners or can I just press it into the corner with a straight tool and continue to the other wall (it's only a short run on the 2nd wall as it will come against the side of a window). Thanks!

I just bought my first house and I live in West Michigan. The grass is VERY patchy, especially toward the street and I have a couple of oak trees in the yard. The neighbors on either side of me have beautiful lawns and I would like mine to look the same. Help!

I want to remodel my room for a new house. Ive seen this on tv many times. Heres the description, In the room theres like a wall and you could climb up the wall with a ladder and their would be almost like a whole new floor where there would be a bed a nightstand etc. under the wall would be whatever you prefer in my case a desk with a computer. This type of design takes up less room in a bedroom. Do you happen to know whats the name of this design?

i have an expensive lamp that has a socket for a standard light bulb. the first time i changed the bulb i noticed that this was a very tight fit. the bulb has blown again and i managed to remove the old bulb. i am having trouble twisting in a new bulb. does anyone manufacture slightly narrower bulbs? or does anyone have any ideas on how to screw in a new standard bulb?

I recently purchased a Hoosier cupboard/cabinet. It has the Seller's manufacturing tag on the front, and the paper tag on the back.

I believe the cabinet is made from oak, but I don't really know how to tell. Are there any signs or unique characteristics that would tell me the type of wood the cabinet was made from.

Here's a picture of the cabinet -

Hi... we are moving to Salt Lake City and the only homes we can afford right now are the generic split level 80's homes... They are all so plain and dated... Does anyone who owns or has lived in a split level have any ideas how to make it less generic? I am going to paint the kitchen cabinets a high gloss black, install new modern handles, and instal stainless steel subway (rectangle) tiles... and the kitchen will be a deep red.. but aside from that and remodeling the bathrooms, im stumped on how to make it a little more modern. They all have those pony walls when you first walk in the front door that is along side the stairs up to the living room.. and alot of them have really ugly railings... Do you think it would be a good idea to make that a full height wall instead?

Okay, every springtime around this month I get ready to plant veggies in my garden (I grow organics cucumber, cherry tomatoes, bittermellons, red onions amongst other things).
And every year my soil gets all hard and dried out that it forms these little "clumps" of rocks (which can easily be broken though).
The problem is that I have such a huge garden space FULL of these things and I want to know if there is ANY methods to prepare the soil (getting rid of these "clumps" of soils) quickly and easily.
Thanks for the help and advice.

Regards,
Another Average Green-Thumber

I live in a rowhouse in Baltimore and was wondering for resale purposes, should I replace the AC window units for central air (lowest quote was $5300) or should I pump that money into updating the kitchen? Which one will help out the most when it comes time to sell in this competitive market?

Have several mature oak trees on property. Some have holes in trunk where in appears a branch may have been at one time. When it rains these holes fill up with water. I'm afraid this will rot the tree and eventually kill it. Is there a product made to fill these holes without hurting the tree?

I clean the dishes and clean everything but yet there are still there. I tried the natt stuff you buy at the store, the sticky paper. That cought 1. So it was no use. Just wondering if there is something i can do to get rid of them. I really dont wanna spay any flamable spray because the stove is right by the sink it's all atached. (i live in a studio appartment) so u can only imagine how small the kitchen is. I seems like they are just spreading too....someone help me!
