Although most lawnmowers are 4 cycles, there are those that use 2 cycle engines like lawnboy for one.
If you have a seperate place to add oil on the mower then it is a 4 cycle and only needs gas.
If you can't find the place to add oil, then look around the gas tank and see if it tells you the ratio of oil to gas. Some mower engines vary on what they need. Some are either 4,6,8 ozs of oil per gallon of gas Good luck

Usually push and riding mowers to do not need to have mixed gas and oil. One check to see if there is a separate place to put oil around the engine. Also you could call the manufacturer and tell them the model you have. They can answer your question and probably mail you or give you an email address to retrieve a new manual.

A lawnboy lawn mower need oil mixed with its gas. In general if there are not two caps one saying oil and the other saying gas on them, would you need to mix gas and oil together. To be on the safe side, call a small engine repair shop and tell them the make of the engine and they will be able to tell you. If you do, ask what the mixture ratio is.

On the gas cap it will have a little teardrop looking thing and a + sign. That means you ad oil to the gas and yeah lawnmowers usually have oil and gas seperate.

Here is the rule of thumb that says whether you are likely to need oil mixed with gas.
Things like lawnmowers that stay on the ground in an upright position use oil from an oil sump for lubrication. So they need no oil in their gas.
Things that are used in every kind of position like weed- whackers and chain saws can't count on a sump always being at the bottom. They get their lube from the oil mixed into their gas.

Check the engine for some numbers. If it says 4 Cycle, do not add oil. Most all mowers are 4 cycle today.

Usually you don't have to mix those in a lawnmower. That's usually for weed etaters, etc.
What brandis yur mower? Maybe you can find their website and they will send you a manual. If nothing else you can give them the model # over the phone and they will tell you.

Lawn mowers will have a place for gas and a seperate cap/compartment for oil. Weed eaters typically use a mix.
Mowers do need oil.

There should be a separate plug for the oil. Can you ask the previous owner about the mower?

99% of mowers don't take oil in the gas. Look at gas cap. It should say "Gas mix" if it takes oil.
