Don't Give up. A wind Generator can hook directly to your electric company's grid and they can monitor the amount you use and pay you the difference or you pay a small amount. It all depends on your usage to what you r producing. Or you can have basically a glorified Alternator and it can be hooked to batteries that will be converted to household electricity through an inverter. Hope this helps.

It is more complicated than that. If you buy it as a package then you get the inverter and an interface to your house wiring. The problem is that it goes on a tower that you need to have erected to hold the generator above local obstructions like trees and the rooftop. Even worse you will need a permit to have the tower put in. Even worse worse the constant humming sound will annoy your neighbors and if you need a zoning variance to install the tower they will fight that (unless they are really stupid about such things) and probably win so no tower, no generator, no free electric.

It is not easy being green.

You are asking a lot.
Sounds like you had better hire all this done.
A lot of research will be required.then engineering and impact study if you are in a urban area.
Under the best of conditions it will take a long time to recover your costs.(something to think about)
