the rain will not hurt it, rain helps in at least two ways. first is saturates the ground with water that the plant needs. it also softens the ground to give the seed a better chance to stay put and not be taken away by birds of blown about by wind. unfortunately there is the possibility that water run off will carry the seeds and cause them to collect in big clumps. to help prevent that you can step on them and push them into the ground somewhat, or cover them up with some straw or grass cuttings.

Put down the seed and either lightly cover with grass clippings or more topsoil. The rain will keep you from watering the seedbed. The better the soil to seed contact the quicker it will germinate

By all means do it now. Just be sure to get the seeds covered in dirt. Rake up the soil first and then sow the seed and rake through it again to make sure it is covered. You could also put down some straw to help it hold the water and not dry out so fast. good luck.

very last 12 months I had the same issue. I went to my community Ace ironmongery keep presented adequate rye to conceal the area i develop into engaged on & also some Kentucky 31 - which will sprout contained in the spring. The rye is a chilly climate grass & on your section it really is an annual, not perinneal, so once the elements warms up it is going to die back. regardless of in case you do not opt to positioned a spring grass seed down now, you may have quite eco-friendly grass to conceal your bare spots this iciness, then confirm this spring what you want to positioned down for summer season. a speedy grower for summer season is bermuda. One hint besides the indisputable fact that, when you position the grass seed down, gently rake the area else birds will munch down on your seeds. solid success!

First, spread the soil(where the bald part is) with hand shovel evenly. Now spread the seeds, then cover evenly with soil again about an inch covering the seed. You know that birds get into them. It is a good time to spread the seeds before rainfall.

Put the seed down, but rake it into the dirt. That way the rain will not cause it to wash away.
