I'm curious about when to plant and what I can plant on my second floor balcony. The balcony faces west, so we get the afternoon sun in Phoenix. I have young kids so I want to avoid cactus or anything that could be poisonous.

I saw this on a DIY gardening segment.. the guy took some styrofoam (?) blocks, carved them out and added paint.. at the end he had something that looked just like mossy aged stone! He used them to make a really beautiful container garden. Does anyone remember seeing this/can give me more information or a link? Thank you so much!

Where are you by the way?

I am in Tennessee and it seems business has not picked up for me yet or anybody else really either. And we DID have some very spring like weather all last week.

I had used the country theme in my house for many years. We are moving. I was wondering does anyone still use the shelves, hearts, etc...in their homes? I love this stuff but I am also bored with it. I have been in more and more homes that it seems there is very little on the walls. I also still like the Priscilla Curtains even though I know they are not used anymore. Any suggestions?

I have a balcony and it doesn't get much sunlight. I was wondering what types, if any, vegetables that do good in partial shade.

P.S. I live in Minnesota. Thanks!

I have look'd on numerous sites for this info, & most dont say anything about Lime kiling Vegetation.

I have 2 bags of this particular Brand & Type & even checked their website & found no answer for my ?

I have weeds & all kinds of Arizona Native types of weeds ~yes there's a difference. And yes, I want to get rid All of them.

Most of the stuff U buy at Home Depot or Lowe's, doesnt work on stuff here. It has some type of Salt or Sugar in it, & They Dont Kill Any Type of Weed, But Make them Grow!! Im tired of having to pull weeds all over our Acre & a Quarter Property.

So, we just happen to have this type of Lime lying around that needs to be used b4 we get anymore rain & it hardens to Cement Like Compound.

~the ??~

Will this Particular Lime Kill Weeds & UnWanted Vegetation or Not??

We found the house we wanted. Bad thing is I have to use a primer paint. Their colors were Southwestern Rust with a tan ceiling. Blue and yellow, Orange and one pink room. Not even going to guess on how they came up with these colors. I have been to MAB Paints, Sherman Williams, TrueValue, and Wal-Mart. They all seem to tell me the same thing, a primer is a prime no matter which one you choose. Is this true? I need to know if there is a primer for one coat coverage that is better than others. I am going to use this wagner spray painter thing my dad had. No worrys there is no flooring to worry about since it will be just subfloors.

I love how morning glories look, and I want to find some kind of flowering plant that would look good in my daughters room. Her room has yellow walls, and the ceiling looks like clouds, so the color scheme is kind of blue and yellow- and we have different color butterflies hanging up. SO- I guess if you CAN'T grow morning glories or don't have any suggestions of HOW you'd do that......Let me know what you would suggest for houseplants. Gonna plant it in a red tin watering can that is sort of retro-

THANKS-

I am interested in purchasing a new home. However, the "roof" of the porch is made of wood and it looks like some pieces are rotting and crumbling. Can this be fixed, and if so, how much would this cost?
Thanks

My neighbor has really pretty flowers and a lawn jockey, flamingos, etc. Little by little, I have been taking his lawn ornaments and uprooting his flowers and putting them in my yard. He's old and seenisle and can't see across the street to know. This weekend, the mailman put some of my mail in his mailbox by mistake. He came over to give it to me and noticed and he is really pissed. He wants me to give it back but I think they look better in my yard. He says he's not going to call the police and finds it somewhat comical that I admired his garden so much I would take from it. He was really pissed at first but he told me to just do whats right and make good.

I think I should keep it all because it looks much better in my yard and I have recieved numerous compliments on my garden. I think a nice gesture is to buy him a few savings bonds or gift certificate to Wal-Mart something. Since he's old, he will probably appreciate that. What do you think?

I've been looking for information on this matter and all I find is information on how to waterproof it when you already have the problem.
Isn't there a way to prevent it...?

I came home one day and found that the sliding bar to my screen door was ripped half way out of the trim of my door along with a chunk of wood, as if someone tried to slam the screen door open or something. Several thoughts ran through my mind, like how much is this gonna cost to repair or replace? Does my home insurance cover this, or should i even make a claim on this it seems so small, but if its expensive? But the real question is how should i go about replacing it, i cant make up my mind.

I am so frustrated. I cleaned all the peices and replaced all the filters and my vacuum started to smoke. Its an upright one that I bought at Walmart for about 75 $. Should I retry and plug it in? its been several days since the smoking incident. It didnt take up anything unusal that I noticed. The smoking was in the floor peice that goes over the the floor. Or should I just pitch it and buy another one?
