I am interested in purchasing a new home. However, the "roof" of the porch is made of wood and it looks like some pieces are rotting and crumbling. Can this be fixed, and if so, how much would this cost?
Thanks

any part of a house can be fixed at any price you mentioned tou are considering buying the house the seller should have an inspection report along with estimates as to cost prior to sale, I don't know what state you are in but real estate and escrow regulations should apply to the purchase /sale Costs of repairs are usually the sellers obligation or property price is reduced to seller. ask for termite and inspection report contingent on making offer on property.

Sure you can fix it. How new is the house? You may not want to take on this challenge but it is fixable and depending how bad the problem is will determine the cost. The best way to go about it is to examine the roof and see where the problem is and how bad it is. That will give you an idea of the extent of the rot and what you need for materials. The best route to replace it with pressure treated lumber. A little more expensive but will save ya headaches later. Best of luck.
