My son has an older painted cedar house and woodpeckers have made numerous holes in his house. I told him I would ask the question on Yahoo answers and get back with him. Thanks.

I thought I read somewhere( in one those do-it-yourself magazines), that you could use a kind of oil-based paint to paint a kitchen countertop that's good around sinks and strong and won't bubble or peel. What do you guys out there know about this stuff?
(It's not marble, it's the other stuff. The one most people use. Can't spell it, though.)

The water heater is about two or three years old. The pilot simply quits, and in the past two weeks, I've had to re-light the thing once a day, and today twice. I've tried tapping on the pilot's gas line, and that seemed to help for a while....I could see debris burning in the flame, and the pilot was much easier to light....but now it's just going out all the time. Is there anything I can do? Is my gas "dirty?" Should I have a filter in my gas line? Is the regulator bad? HELP! Cold showers suck! Thanks in advance, Greg

I accidently dropped my plastic glasses on the floor, and there are some minor scratches on it. Its not really that noticeable, but it still bothers me and I can't afford to buy new ones.

I just went to change a burned out lightbulb to have the light come out of the socket leaving the base of the bulb in (it did not break), then I saw that this happened to 2 of the lights in the same fixture (it is a ceiling fan with 4 lights) 2 have had the base of the bulb stay in the fixture when i tried to take them out. Do you think there is moisture in the fan, or are they cheap light bulbs? I have never had anything like this happen.

Live in Minnesota, it's been below zero for a few days in a row. Initially few days ago could not get hot water but cold worked fine at kitchen faucet. Local plumber suggested I find the pipes in the basement and put source of heat on them, and also drain hot water from some other faucet into the kitchen drain, and raise temperature in home by few degrees. Did all that and that night after a while hot water came back enough to run the dishwasher, etc. Then was gone 3 days, came back and now neither hot or cold gives me more than a drip. Hot water pipe under the sink feels warm. I again applied warm air both under sink and in the basement around the pipes for a bit, put a lot of hot water down the drain from another faucet, this time no success. Still just dripping.

What can I do?

Thanks!

I have a very moist house by default. I have these horrible fungus gnats that hover around my plants. I heard that if I somehow plant yelllow stickies in or around the plant, they will attract the fungus gnats and get stuck. Is this true? I've tried expensive chemicals ,but they just won't go away.

I saw Burpee had this $17 make your own starter paper pot plant mold. That is really lame. Does anyone have any original, inexpensive eays to do this out of newpaper. I am a thrifty person and I just know there is a better, less expensive way to do this.

I have a large sub crew is ready to go to work and with them being subs they have no unemployment coming in and we are in Southern Ohio which has about 1 + foot of snow and they are calling for another 1ft the beginning of the week so I know its going to be a month or so before we get back to roofing in ohio.

Roofing crew has workers comp and insurance and all the tools needed to do roofing work.
