I've used germinated lima bean seeds (or maybe it was a pinto bean) for a science lab that my teacher had germinated but I don't know how to germinate them.

The Pinto and Lima bean can be germinated in the same manner. For growing the plant, just plant the seed about 1" deep, about 4'' a part, with 2' between rows. Once planted, water only once and do not water again for two weeks. While the bean will germinate with daily watering the plant will most likely die or produce a very low yield. Water once a week starting in the third week. Pintos thrive in warm soil so plant late.

Listed below is the Texas Commercial Vegetable Grower's Guide for Pinto Beans. Also, just in case you are not wanting to grow these beans, there is a site showing you another method to sprout them but I would not recommend doing this to the beans if you plan on planting for high yields.

Sometimes the best way to germinate the seed is to simply place it in the soil and water it. Nature will take it's course. If you want to pre-germinate them, my favorite method is to use a wet paper towel in a saucer. Put the seeds between the folds of the paper towels. Keep moist until all seeds have germinated. good luck with the crop. :- )

Get an empty clean egg crate and cut the top off of it all the way across. Put planting soil( the bagged miracle grow starter soil is the best) in there half full. Just barely put the seeds under the soil, and water daily. Soon the seeds will germinate and you can transplant. Good luck.

I just started some using jiffy pot pellets-inexpensie mini greenhouse like things from walmart, around 2-6 bucks, depending on size. They are little flat disks that expand with soil when you water them, then you just drop in your seeds. Super easy, and sprouting already.
