I do this for a living, hair dye cannot be removed. But if the area is not too large a pro can replace it with carpet from the closet.

I did the same thing and came here looking for answers. I like the "dye the rest of the carpet" idea. So far, I've tried like, everything in my house and can't get it out!! I read somewhere that one part vinegar to two parts water helps, but I doubt it.

heavy duty clear fingernail polish remover. it will not take all of the stain out, but will lighten in drastically. there is no way to get it out completely. I have white carpet and dye my hair monthly. It is not a fun problem to have.

Not that i know of dye is permanant. If it is small take a cutting of carpet from like in the closet. Cut out the stain in a square shape then if you take that piece and cut out a square from your cutting from a piece of carpet from closet it will work.

If it hasnt been that long ago then hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit on the stain for five minutes, then blot with a white cloth. Repeat if necessary. Good Luck
