Fleece generally doesn't need to be hemmed, so buy as it as long as you want it. You may want to add a trim around the edges to make them look even. If you go to a fabric store, the person cutting the fleece should be able to answer your questions and advise you on what else you might need. You might also look in to pre-packaged kits, see if they have any in the size you want.
