I saw Burpee had this $17 make your own starter paper pot plant mold. That is really lame. Does anyone have any original, inexpensive eays to do this out of newpaper. I am a thrifty person and I just know there is a better, less expensive way to do this.

Yep! Being a real sucker I went for one of the newspaper making gimmicks to make pots from newspaper. Didn't work worth a damn. Just take a piece of newspaper and wet it and wallah you will see that it just won't hold up to watering. Now you could take Chester P's answer and you may have two pots made before it snows. Or you can just go to the grocery store any buy some small drinking cups for next to nothing. That is what I have been doing successfully for several years. I use all the newspapers under plants such as tomatoes, cages cucumbers, pepers, etc. Just spread them out and put a little something on them so they won't blow away. They serve two good purposes. #1 NO WEEDS #2 they help preserve moisture. (Here in South Texas the moisture is really a help. We just can't get enough water on some of our sunny days) Another real good way but takes a little more time is to throw the papers in a plastic garbage can and keep plenty of water in it. Stir them occassionally and make a thick sludge. Then pour this around the plants. It dries to a hard piece of goop and never gets blown away. By then end of summer it is pretty well decomposed.

Take some flour and water and make a light paste out of it. Take paper and coat, then mold over a cardboard toilet paper roll and allow to dry.
