I have double glazing in my house but the bedroom window screams when the wind is blowing , The seal appears intact and there are no gaps i can see and the window closes tight.
The windows are three yrs old but the manufacturers (Safestyle UK ) say they can't do anything because the guarantee is only for the person who had it fitted ( i e the previous owners ). They don't even offer help of any kind once the guarantee is out of the originators hands unless I pay to transfer the documentation ( over £70 if they agree to accept it )

My house was built in 1954, and the walls and ceiling are composed of early drywall (very small sheets) and a finish coat of plaster over the drywall. On the living room and connected dining room ceiling, someone put on a textured plaster coat, probably over the finish coat at a later date. The texture is terrible, with what I call stalagtites... numerous ridges 2" long and roughly 1" apart, hanging down up to 1/2".

I've tried to knock the ridges down with a scraper, with limited success. In one area, the texture plaster separated from the ceiling entirely, but in most places it's holding firm. The scraping has resulted in reducing the height of the ridges, but it still looks terrible. Sanding the entire ceiling seems like a ton of work and I'm dubious about results. I'm looking for suggestions on how to either smooth the ceiling to a "milder" texture or to remove the texture coat of plaster entirely.

I just accidentally broke one of the two clips on our microwave off when I was opening the door to it and now when I close it the little plate just spins and when you tell it to cook something it won't do anything. Any answers? It's just creeping me out so...

I have used every cleaning supply out there and I scrub and scrub. It LOOKS like it is clean and there's nothing on it, but as soon as the next day rolls around, there it is again. It's white and well you know what it looks like if you have it on your curtain liner. Anyways, anyone know how to "really" clean it and it stays off....well, until you have to clean it again of course. But it shouldn't be the next day....lololol. Anyways, any advise would be very appreciated.
Thanks,
R.S.

The current paint got moldy and needs to be scraped off. It looks like the old paint was oilbased as moisture brought out the oil and those little brown beads. So I am leaning toward latex. But I'm not an expert. Thought? Also what about the primer?

I have tried CLR, Limeaway, straight vinegar and nothing seems to work. I've tried Limi Shine and Glass Magic. This is driving me crazy!

I need to shorten the supply lines on a bathroom faucet to accommodate a pedestal sink. The easiest way to do this, I think, is to remove two existing galvanized steel pipes and replace them with pre-cut galvanized steel pipes from the hardware store. Is this possible without cutting them?

I recently moved to a new apartment. The bathroom tiles were gleaming white. However, the first time I cleaned them, suddenly darker gray streaks appeared in the tile -- in random spiderweb patterns, looking a lot like cracks that had been somehow filled in. Scrubbing with a powder cleanser like Comet revealed the lines slowly, but a splash of rubbing alcohol revealed them instantly.

Are these repaired cracks? Did my landlord do something to the tiles to hide these flaws? Is this worth complaining about?

The grey lines are ugly. Can I get them back to that white state and still clean them?

I currently have like a 60 gallon Rheem hot water tank, but I was wondering if anybody out there uses only tankless water heaters for each location where hot water is needed in the house. If yes, how do you like it, and also what do you for the washing machine? Thanks for any feedback about this.
