Do not use anything acidic. Acids are bad for natural stone, especially anything with a polished surface. Use an alkaline cleaning solution and a handheld scrub brush.

Many products out there to clean it up with. After it is cleaned, you may want to use a tile/stone/brick sealant to help prevent it from returning. Check at a local hardware store.

a small ammount of warm water with mild soap, and scrup it gently with a tooth brush. it's rather time consuming, but it will get the job done.
