Okay.
From the front exterior, it doesn't really look like much. A door on the left, and two large (6 foot wide) windows are the only architectural features. I think it started its life as a vacation cabin...I live in the woods not far from the ocean, and this type of thing is quite common.
Once you step inside, there is a large L-shaped "front room", which is the kitchen and living room combined. The kitchen has off-white cupboards and hardwood (oak) floors. The living room has been painted white, and has gerber carpet that truthfully has seen better days. At the crux of the L, there is a woodstove, surrounded by brick, that keeps the place really cozy and warm. The ceilings are tongue-and-groove cedar - sounds nice, except for the fact that these same pieces of wood are also the roof, with some tar & gravel on the other side. I could really use a little insulation, but there's nowhere to put it!
The L wraps around the guest bathroom. This originally had the cedar ceilings, but for some reason, a previous tenant decided to paint these, as well as one weird spot on the wall a bright blue. Otherwise, it's pretty standard bathroom, all in white...No tub, but a shower, small vanity, and a standard toilet.
At the back of the Front Room, there are two doors. One leads to the Guest Room, which at this point, is mostly an oversized closet. I really need to do a post-Christmas clean up in there, but haven't had the time or energy so far. It, too, is painted white, with a small closet in one corner, and a window on the opposite wall.
The other door at the back of the Front Room leads into a Hallway...This actually bends around the back-side of the master bath, and has two closets - one is a linen closet, and one is a laundry closet.
The end of the Hallway brings you to the Master Bedroom. This is actually the gem of the whole place. It's as big as the Front Room, with a walk-in (6' x 13') closet. Not only do I have room for my king-sized bed and the rest of the bedroom furniture, but my husband has his office in there, as well.
The Master Bath (as previously mentioned) is pretty standard...Shower/tub, toilet & pedestal sink. I could use more storage in there, but considering the walk-in closet & Guest Room, I have trouble justifying anything else! :)
Outside of the house is where you find the true benefits of living where I do. I share the yard with the landlord, his kids, and the couple across the way who live in the pool house. We call it "The Compound". The landlord allows us all to use his gym (he used to be a professional body builder, so there's pretty much any machine you could want, plus it's fully mirrored, wired for surround sound, and has a padded floor), his putting green and driving cage (right outside my kitchen window), his pool (which his kids clean), and his climbing wall. This summer, we'll get to try out the custom, marble-topped bar that he had built into the second story of the old water tower. I don't have a key to the 1,000-bottle wine cellar that's in the ground floor of the tower, but I'm not much of a wine drinker, so that's okay. He also has two koi ponds, and has the gardener come out every week in summertime to keep up the landscaping.

My house started out as a one room school house sitting out all by itself on the prairie. In the early 1960's, they moved it into town and turned it into a house. It is basically a little box of a house with a small kitchen, largish living room, two bedrooms, a bathroom; the original cloakrooms are the front and back porches.
