YES , BUT YOU RUN THE RISK OF DROPPING & CHIPPING THE TOP!

Yes, my wife says that she does on our ceramic top. She said to be careful not to put the pans down to forceful and don't side it around or it will scratch the surface.

yup.

it helps if the pan bottoms are really flat, and smooth edged.

Be gentle with those 2 pound hammers though.
