I have a set of bookshelves which are currently wood woth a varnish. I want to paint them with a water-based gloss white wood paint. Do I have to sand them back first, or can I paint directly over the varnish?

Water is pouring out of a little plastic pipe, next to the bit where the pipe to the shower head screws in to the unit. Is there any way I can seal this up, as the water is puring out there instead of comng out the head. I can't afford a plumber right now, and I need the shower working!

The hose could be used 24 hours a day, but i am thinking of months, rather than weeks. You need to work out the capacity of the pool, then the rate water would flow per day/week, i guess. Rather a silly question, because i know this scenario is unlikely to develop.

Would it be better to mulch my leaves in my yard to feed the grass, what ever kind it may be, or to bag them up?

Empire Carpet quoted me this today. Is $1,500 too high for buying and installing red oak on 6 stairs? They haul and dispose of the carpet and pad, too.

Is there a benefit to reinstalling a 3 phase 5 ton compressor? Are three phase a/c compressors more energy efficient? Are they more expensive? What is the appropriate SEER? Our KW cost is about 13 cents and we live in South Texas where it is warm year round. Should we also install a new inside air handler?

As some people may recall, I pinched some Baptisia seed pods and planted them in the the soil of an established Brugmansia [Angle Trumpet]. Most of the seeds have sprouted, and I'm enjoying their growth.

I normally water by adding smidgeon amount of H20 to the bottom dish the original Brugmansia (and now Baptisia) is growing in every day or so.

Last night I decided to water from the top. To my surprise, I noticed tons of super tiny bugs scurrying around like ants who just had their hill kicked over. I really had to squint to see them, and they move very quickly.

When the soil is dry I don't see these creatures. During the scramble, I thought I could see what looked like wings, but there is nothing flying around, just a lot of leg work.

Their color blends in with the soil color, they are real tiny, and they only get excited when the top soil is wet.

I suspect these guys are good for my soil.

I love microcosms! Any ideas on who they are and what they are doing? Thanks

I took my daughter's baptismal gown to the dry cleaners and the first time I went to pick it up,they hadnt gotten out the stain I'd told them about when I'd dropped it off; I examined it thoroughly and only this one stain was there. When I went back the second time to pick it up, they had gotten that stain out but in addition had spilled little flecks of some sort of clear hard solution on the front AND put a hole in the top!! I was very upset and they said that shouldn't have happened and if I left it again they would see what they could do with repairing the top and the stains. I got a call the other day saying it was ready, that they'd repaired the hole but they feel the hard clear spots on the front of the dress were something in the fabric (which I know it wasn't) and they weren't responsible. I haven't picked it up yet; I'm kinda afraid to see "how" they repaired the hole too... What should I do??? Please, can anyone help me?! BTW, the dress is worth $60 and I live in Missouri.

right on the armpit area; I think they are caused by the deodorant. Do you know of a deodorant that doesn't cause this? and of something that helps remove it. I tryed clorox but it doesn't work.
