Are there any energysaving lightbulbs I can use with a dimmer, I tried the noermal ones, left the dimmer on full, but it nearly burnt my switch out.
any suggestions.

No there are none. There is no combination of energy saving bulb and dimmer that will work.

There are dimmable fluorescent lamp/ ballast combinations but these are expensive for domestic use and require special dimmers and wiring.

A normal dimmer and gls lamp is already energy saving when turned low, although not as much as a fluorescent would be.

You may have more watts going thru the dimmer than it can handle. Find out what wattage the dimmer is rated at and dont use more than that in the bulb(s).

no, you cant use any energysaver bulbs with dimmer... use a energybulb in a separate tall corner lamp for subtle lighting

replace the dimmer . use lower watt blub . or use a seperate lamp . why ??????????????????????????????????
