Parts of some of the answers are correct. There is usually a place in the kitchen where the stove goes. Take a look. If there is a large plug where the stove goes, it is probably a 220 volt (not 220 watt) outlet. If there is a pipe line with a shut off valve, that is probably a gas line. It could be that you have both and if so you could install either a gas or electric stove. Another thing is to check your circuit breaker panel. If you have wiring for a stove, there should be a breaker labeled range. (it will be a double breaker). If you are in an apartment, ask the landlord. Best thing would have been checked this out before purchasing an appliance.

Good luck.

If they haven't delivered it yet, ask the delivery person to check you hook-up

Frankly if you have to ask about hooking up an electric stove then you should call an electrician.
A 220 volt (not watt) circuit is not for amateurs. It is better to kick out the cash for a professional than to lose everything to a fire.
Good Luck

Carole! Installing an electric stove usually requires that your kitchen have a 220 watt line available. It's a big, big line that is twice the size of your traditional 110 outlets that you use for most of your appliances and lights. If you have no 220 line, you'll have to get an electrician to install one for you.

If you have a large three prong plug in your kitchen, just plug it in!

VERY EASY. I am assuming that:
a) you have a place in the kitchen for one;
b) You have a 220 volt plug outlet already in the kitchen where you want to place the stove.

If both ASSUMPTIONS ARE OK.. THEN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUSH THE STOVE INTO ITS PLACE.. PLUG IT IN AND START COOKING.

if YOU DO NOT have a place for the stove.. and IF you do not have 220 volt current already in place, then it would be something that you could (probably) not do yourself and would have to hire an electrician to bring in a 220 volt line from your junction box

because u stated "electric" stove and all homes have to have a stove i'm guessing ur last one was gas?.......most of these answers r on the right track but i strongly suggest that if u dont already have a black, most of the time, 3 prong outlet near floor level that u call a electrician.......

Please hire a professional electrician! This isn't something just anyone can do. Ask your family, friends and neighbors if they can recommend one. If you've already had an electric stove in your house, then use the same plug. If not..................hire an electrician!
