if you are refering to a contractor as construction builder, you dont need anything. best to have is the experience in the field when you working as one. Architecture is for design, and civil engineering is to cover the structure part of the building design. but a contractor is builder, you'll need to know how to read construction drawings, know the materials, or even operate some of the machines, which you can all learn in the field from practice.

To be a contractor you have to pass an exam (no education required, all you have to do is study) and obtain a liscense. You also have to carry liability insurance. Depending on what type of contractor and your local laws, you will need experience working in the field first. The best way to learn is with a reputable contractor who does it.

No degree required, but arithmetic and english and accounting can help. get a good HS education and then start work in construction and learn baby learn. then take a course on laws after 4 years and you can be a contractor if you pass the test. be sure you work for licensed contractors so they can verify your experience.

I was a carpenter for over twenty years, I had ideas my boss wouldn't listen to so.....now he's working for me. Lot's of math, some algebra, some electrical and engineering skills, Lot's of practical skills. Some things you can't learn in school.
Go out a get a job with a builder, learn first hand. Go to the jobs and ask if you can watch them, ask questions, Lot's of them. Get hired to "pound nails" on a roof, studs, learn, ask questions.

You'll need a license in most places, insurance, money to back you, good credit and a good reputation. Knowledge of where to, how to, knowing the Right people in the right places and good luck.
