Why is it that in so many homes in the West, regardless of how rich people are, they choose to have a toilet beside their bathtub?

I'm Western, but it baffles my mind as to why people would decide that toilets with what they carry and how they smell would be best placed beside the place where you at your cleanest, or perhaps trying to take a long hot bath after a hectic day.

I grew-up in a family of women , so I'm fairly inept with DIY stuff. But I feel it's important I do the sanding and staining of a piece of furniture I got. I'm looking at the pieces of wood, and I really don't understand what is 'with the grain' and what is 'against the grain'. I have the variable grades of sanding paper, and I know that the sanding/stain is applied 'with the grain', but I need someone to explain to me what that is....2nd grade style. A site that pictures real wood with illustrations is a plus as well...preferred really.

Ways I know I'm doing it wrong would be nice as well.

It just looks like a bunch of lines to me...

I have an Avanti 2.2 cubic foot deep freeze (not self defrosting),that is only one year old.It was working great. We ate all the food out of it so i figured i would unplug it and open it up and let it defost itself and give it a breather.Well it sat unplugged for about 4 months, then today i turned it on and it is not cooling.I can hear the compressor humming and its very hot to the touch, but it is not cooling.

There is a lot of grass growing in my pond and around the sides. It's a large pond we use for fishing. I don't want to kill the fish. I have read to use copper sulfate or grass carp to get rid of it. I don't know what I should do. If you know of anything that would get rid of the grass or a wedsite that might help. I don't care how weird it is. Please help.

I try to keep a clean organized house, but I am just not too good at those sorts of things. I try to make lists, but somehow I wind up doing maybe 1 thing off the lists, I try to keep calenders and forget to check them. Any advice on how to excell in these areas?

When I ordered it I choose it from a catalogue, It was a really pretty headboard. When they delivered the bed the man said that the headboard was no longer in stock and bought another headboard instead a plain looking one. He said since it is not my fault he would not charge me a extra £15.00 as this headboard and bedstand are more expensive. I didn't complain but now I feel like I've been taken for a ride. What do you think guys.

I was making some pasta and left the stove unattended for a moment. No, not on purpose. I have a 3 year old who is potty training. Low and behold, I was distracted for a bit and now the pasta burned into the bottom of the pot. I scrubbed it, rubbed it, begged it to come off. Nada. So I try the old salt and ice cube deal, where you swirl it in the pot. Nothing still. Any ideas? I love my cookware, and I ran out of ideas. The stupid spray you buy that is supposed to help, didnt. Thanks everyone!
