Potting Soil: Cyclamen persicum does best planted in a soil-based potting mix, with the top of the tuber just slightly above the soil line.

Water:

* When leaves are present, water when dry. Avoid getting water on the crown of the plant.
* As the flowers begin to fade, gradually allow the plant to dry out for 2-3 months.
* When new growth appears, resume watering and feeding. Place in a partially shaded spot outdoors for the summer. Bring it back indoors before the cold weather.

Humidity: High humidity, especially during winter, is crucial. Keep the cyclamen on a tray of water with a layer of pebbles or something else to form a shelf for the cyclamen pot to sit on. Do not let the cyclamen itself sit in the water.

Fertilizer: Feed with a low-nitrogen fertilizer every couple of weeks while in full leaf.

Light: During the summer light should be bright, but indirect. Move the cyclamen closer to the light source in the winter.

Temperature: Cyclamen do not like heat, but they are not frost hardy. Do not expose to temperatures below 50 degrees F. Avoid drafts as well as hot, dry air.

Other: Repot when the tuber fills the existing pot. Repot while dormant.

There are many wonderful cyclamen hybrids available and since they stay in bloom for a long period, you can choose your plant while the blossoms are open and know exactly what you are getting. Some notable varieties to look for are:

* Sierra Series: Larger flowers (2-3 inches) white, pink, salmon, scarlet, lilac and purple
* ‘Scentsation’ is open pollinated with a strong fragrance. Pinks and reds
* ‘Victoria’ open pollinated, ruffled white flowers with red mouths and margins

The answer is simple, they should not have been there in the first place. Here is a quote by Winston Churchill speaking of the Palestinians- "I do not agree that the dog in a manger has the final right to the manger even though he may have laid there for a very long time, I do not admit that right. I do not admit, for instance, that a great wrong has been done to the red Indians of America, or the black people of Australia, I do not admit that wrong has been done to these people, by the fact that a stronger race, a higher grade race, a more worthily wise race, to put it that way, has come in and taken their place." So what he's saying is that because these Jewish immigrants are supposedly a more powerful race we should remove the Palestinians, and replace them with this other race? So we should remove all the supposedly less powerful races to make room for the supposedly powerful races? Is that what it's about? If you ask me, that's about one step down from being a type of Nazi philosophy. The removal of the Israeli government from Palestine, will solve the conflict, almost like the destruction of the Nazi empire solved the conflict for the Jews and others, because the Nazis were trying to get rid of the supposedly weaker races. This is not as much a war as it as an illegal occupation by the Israeli government as granted to them by Britain, and strongly aided by America.
