by far the best and right answer is to call a repairman.
wow... is right, there are many things that can cause this problem and if you do not know about them, you can cause more problems.

could be lots of things...bad capacitor, bad fan motor, loose wire, bad relay, bad control board. Would be cheaper in the long run to call a repairman now instead of after you tried to fix it and ruined something else.

it is the fan in the unit. the bearing seals break. It just happened to me. My husband went up in the attic and spun it by hand to get it started. put it on , on instead of auto and spun it by hand for the weekend until the repairmen cam to fix it. cost 750.00 to replace funny the part is only 120.00 tops.

This happened at our house and it was just a tiny wire which had come loose on the furnace.
