My NE corner of the house is 6 inches lower than the NW corner. I am told this a severe slope. It is a 75 year old house in the Chicago area which has a clay soil. The foundation is of concrete block. I am told it did not settle 6 inches overnight, however I am told that a 35 feet Dutch Elm tree may be the culprit. It is located on the NE corner only 14 1/2 feet from my foundation. Should I cut down the tree or is there an easy way to irrigate the tree ? Would cutting down the tree make matters worse ?

Something for a window box, or in a nice flower bed that will come back year after year. Thanks!

I need help, there are so many name brands out there: LG, Admiral, Maytag, Kenmore, GE, Whirlpool...and list goes on. What one do you have and is it good and how long have you had it to say that it is good? Please help, I do not have a lot of money to spend on one about $1000.00 on both together.

What book would you recommend for a layman, not a professional? Something that covers common repairs, maintenance, improvements - as a step by step guide. I've gone to the bookstore and seen many of these, but I'm looking for real experiences from people who have read and used these as to which is the best one.

I live in North Texas around the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I can't get any flowers to grow good. Either they need shade but it's too hot or they need sun but our yard is kind of shaded. What is a good flower that will live and preferably are annuals.

Its a fairly new couch, but the fabric is so scratchy. We don't want to spend more than necessary, I was just wondering if its worth it to have it done in a less scratchy fabric.

I am looking to buy a house plant (more like a small tree or a big cactus than a little flowering thing). What are reliable stores to get one at, or has anyone had luck using craigs list or ebay? What is a fair price (this might sound dumb, but I've never bought one before)?

I have several pepper plants and since I live in NY, I thought I was done for the season. I have noticed that there are many more "baby" peppers starting. Should I expect them to fully grow? What can I do to help them along?

Recently planted 8 foot acacia saligna which seems unhappy. Haven't figured out watering schedules. It is putting out new leaves, but they turn brown at the tips. Leaves aren't falling off, just turning brown at the tips. Tried slow deep watering. Now trying less frequent water. Have heavy clay soil. Would appreciate any help.
