I need help, there are so many name brands out there: LG, Admiral, Maytag, Kenmore, GE, Whirlpool...and list goes on. What one do you have and is it good and how long have you had it to say that it is good? Please help, I do not have a lot of money to spend on one about $1000.00 on both together.

That depends on how you use your washer and dryer. What features you need, the more features the more you'll spend.
I would go to sears and gather information on the different brands according to your needs then check out amazon.com to see what is listed there.
I like Kenmore or Frigidaire they last for years. So do your homework and don't pay for a name.

I currently have the GE High Efficiency Washer and Dryer but it cost me over 2K with the pedestals ; but if you go that route don't get the Kenmores the drums are too small. Anyway, Prior to that I had the max capacity Whirlpools and they lasted 10 years and I was able to do comforters and everything in them.

I would purchase the Consumer Reports Buying Guide for 2006. Link below is for Amazon. Great book with lots of information. Good luck in your decision.

We have top load washer and front load dryer purchased from Sears. Have had them for 13 years with no problems....(knock on wood).

Maytag's for both................and my advice would be to get all basic ones............the more song and dance features you have on it the MORE to break down or go wrong.............I got my best advice from a washing machine repair man, often some sores are linked to repairs as well so maybe they would give you some pointers..............Look for the sales discounts etc.

Expensive and brand named isn't always the best. Most appliance store will give u deals when buying them together, so make sure to shop around and check on prices.
