I recommend Tilex; it really cuts deeply into the mold. If a ceiling fan is too hard or costly, ANY fan in the bathroom can help move the humidity out.

Mold spores are everywhere; they simply need water to grow. Install a big fan in the ceiling, put a stand-up fan near the door and clean often. If you have a window, you could get a window fan too.

gutting? how bad is your mold problem??

go to walmart and buy some spray bleach. it might take a bit of elbow grease, but it will get rid of it. on your grout, try using those scrubby green pads that you can also buy at walmart in the dish detergent section. i am not sure about the textured ceiling; that might be a bit harder to get rid of.

time to set down a new rule. after using the bathroom, a person must wipe down any moisture they leave behind. its really not that hard to use a towel just used to dry a body to go and get any droplets left behind on the walls, ceilings, tubs, and it only takes 2seconds.

For the ceiling make a very strong mix of chlorine bleach and wipe the ceiling with a mop. For the calking pour bleach on an old rag and lay it along the calk. The bleach works very well to remove mold.

That bathroom needs ventilation, or anything else you try will fail. Start with installing exhaust fan.....but sounds like the mold may have taken hold....may need to rehab bathroom wall board and ceiling.

get some good tile cleaner . pull all the old calk out . then seal the tile and recalk it ,, for the ceiling let it dry .. scrape the mold off or sand it ,,, of you might have to replace it with water proof sheet rock .. its called green board
