I live in North Texas around the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I can't get any flowers to grow good. Either they need shade but it's too hot or they need sun but our yard is kind of shaded. What is a good flower that will live and preferably are annuals.

I live in springtown and had good luck this year with daylilies, roses, begonias, marigolds, lantana, sunflowers, butterfly bush, alyssum, four o'clocks, vinca(perriwinkle) portacula(purslane), cactus-prickly pear, aloes, other succulents,
and flowering vines-passionflower, trumpet vine and hyacinth beans.

Have you tried daylilies? They are hardy, can grow in shade, and I think do okay in heat.

It's kind of hard to kill marigolds. With the glory of bluebonnets in spring, who needs other flowers? :)
