I often use my blankets and such to wipe up massive food spills. The other day I microwaved some cheese, but I heated it up so much that it was more of a liquid than solid. The plate was very hot from being overheated; so, I dropped it when I picked it up, and it spilled. I used my quilt which my mother sewed for me to wipe up this spill.

My mother made the quilt for me a few years ago, but I am worried that the cheese stain will not come out so well because cheese is somewhat oily; are there are any good detergents, suggestions, or such to get this stain out? I can't use anything which would harm the delicate fabric or the detailed needlework.

I just bought a kitchen table, four chairs, and a bench, all unfinished. I have never stained unfinished wood before. The type of wood is parawood. I've been told it is a "hard" wood and does not need any conditioning or pretreating before the stain is applied. Any tips or suggestions? TIA!

its a small house that is being used as more of a music room where we can crank music up without disturbing people. there isnt a bathroom curently. i mainly want it to be used for peeing just so people dont have to walk to the house. would it be wrong to just add a door with a small fenced in area (privacy fence) for people to just pee there instead of having to put ina water line?

A lightbulb burned out in an overhead light fixture. When I went to unscrew it to put in a new one, apparently it was screwed too tightly in there, and the glass bulb completely broke off in my hand. Now all that's sticking out is the filaments (I believe that's what they're called, lol) and the metal part is still firmly screwed in the socket. Anyone know how I can get that sucker out of there w/o hurting myself?

I am considering getting a soapstone sink for my kitchen. I found one that I really like but met a woman yesterday that has a soapstone sink and it was in rough shape. She claims that she has tried every mild cleaner and nothing works. Is this common and does soapstone require any special care?

I need to clean a spot of urine from our oriental rug (from Dubai). It may have been a day old when I discovered it. I soaked up as much as I could with a paper towel but it has left a slight stain.

Moms if you have children between the ages of 6 months and 12 years old you probably own, have seen, or been to a childrens clothing show such as hannah kate where you can pick your own fabrics. Does anyone know of any online places where they sell items like clothing, bags, bedding, etc. made from vintage or vintage looking fabrics?

I was thinking that I would have beige walls (or light brown) and have black and white bedding, black and white pictures on my wall (with black frames) and lastly white furniture to make it really stand out.

How feasible would it be to add central air conditioning to a dwelling that already has forced-air heat; that is, with the air ducts and system seemingly already in place? Is this common? Is it more efficient, eneregy-wise and economically? Is it an improvement? Geographically, it would be in a home on the middle-east coast of the United States (New York to North Carolina). Thanks...
