While I was sleeping my central air stopped working and was blowing warm air in the house. I checked the unit outside and found that it was noisier then normal and the fan out there was not running. So, I bought a new filter for the furnace hoping that would help and turned the air back on, and everything appeared good (cold air and such) though it was not blowing as strong as normal and the outside fan came on once again. After twenty minutes or so I went to let the dog out and found it making that noise again so I checked and the fan was off again. I almost forgot to mention that the outside unit was hot to the touch the first time and getting hot the second time. Any idea's about what the problem might be and how much the parts for this will cost. I have a friend that does this for a living and he will do the labor, but I want to have an idea if I can afford it this week and it is to late to call him. Thanks in advance.

We are over run with nut grass and other weeds in every one of our new mulch beds which are between 8" to 12" deep. The roots grow horizontally and extremely difficult to get all of them.

We've tried edging of varying heights, all kinds of chemicals, different mulches and rocks, weed-stop mesh material, and even completely removed the sod underneath on a new bed. Funny thing was a combination of the last two ended up with weeds & nut grass the fastest.

Attention professional landscapers and Agriculture majors: please, please, please let us know if a silver bullet exists to eliminate (or make our chore a lot more manageable) this problem. If we don't find a solution soon, we may just abandon the beds entirely and let the grass "win"!

My husband and I got into an argument tonight over whether a broken prong on an outlet should stay plugged in or removed because of my fear that it may short out and cause a fire. It shoots sparks everytime it's plugged in

He asked me how it can cause a fire, and I wasn't sure how to explain it. Can someone help me to make him understand that I'm not just paranoid?

I just bought one today. The sales guy happened to be at my local grocery store parking lot eating in his car while I was loading my car with the rug doctor I just rented to clean my carpet today and that's when he approached me. He was a bit pushy about cleaning my carpet "for free". Obviously there was a catch but he managed to convince me. After seeing the demonstration of all the dirt that's being left behind, I gave in. The price that they originally said was $1700 but he ended up selling it to me for $1000 plus 2 years worth of bags and shampoo.

I've NEVER heard of this company or the reputation of the sales people before today. I bought the vacuum and then went online to research what I bought. hehe, bad choice. After reading some reviews, I don't feel so good about the purchase anymore.

Obviously it's alot of money for a vacuum. For anyone who has experience with these vacuums, what are your thoughts and opinions? Please help!! I have 3 days to return it if i want.

THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY! There is a sound coming from the tree outside my bedroom. My son says it os a bat. I sounds like the chirp of a young bird. I can't sleep so I thought I would ask the question. If I am going to be up all night I might as well learn something!

Ok, I've put Shout on it, washed it, and it accidentally made it into the dryer without my making sure the stain was removed...it wasn't. I've put some more Shout on it, and am letting it soak...but am afraid that's not going to work. It's a new school shirt, and I don't want to lose it already. It's only been worn twice...any suggestions?

and there where some sparks. There was some electricity going to the light but the light was flickering.I turned it off and went out, bought a new light switch.I replaced the old switch and everything is fine now.My question is,should I still be concerned that the old switch sparked? Will the new one do the same over time? If not, what would have caused the old switch to do what it did?

"Self cleaning" models run roughly $200 more than "manual cleaning" models. On a low end product this is a 30% increase. Do they work and are they worth the added expense?

I just got a new shop vac from Walmart for 48 bucks, I use it at home at it works great!
Why do people prefer paying more for vacuum cleaners, when they can use this great one for a fraction of the cost?

i have a small ac unit in my bedroom, i have had the unit for almost two years and never had a problem with it leaking into the house but about two days ago i noticed that when it would cut off (i have it on energy save) that water would drain out of the bottom onto the floor. could this have to do with me having it on the coldest setting for a while and just recently turning it up? (due to recent heatwave) or is this an issue with the ac unit itself!?

I am a new grower and seems everything on the net is about growing monster pumpkins. I just want some basics for my little plot and need to be able to prune and don't want to cut the wrong vine.
