We rented a new house with very little landscaping done. It seems that to build up the ground a lot of landfill was used and it is very poor quality earth in some places. We have already spent hundreds of dollars on shrubs, trees and flowers as well as earth for planting them, but there are some areas where we still cannot even get grass to grow. Any ideas? Everyone else in the whole neighbourhood seems to have the same problem.

I am clearing some overgrown trees and I wish to shred the branches. I am getting conflicting info on when best to shred. Should I shred while the wood is soft with sap or should I let the wood dry?

I want my husband to add a bathroom to my house. I would like to add it to the back of the house but my husband said all of our pipes are under our slab foundation and would have to dig several feet to add a toilet to the existing pipes. He said a shower and sink would work but not a toilet.

I'm painting with semi gloss latex, it's a dark cinnamon colour, over semi gloss latex.... no matter what I've used (brush, foam or traditional roller) it doesn't give good coverage. The results have been streaky, uneven and looks terribe. I've had to put on 3-5 coats to cover the streaks!!! Is it possibly the paint itself? It's Glidden Spred Enamel Latex semi gloss. I am sure it is latex semi I am covering as I spoke to the person who painted originally. Please, any help would be appreciated. I've used a gallon already to paint a small bathroom cabinet, door and window trim, and a couple doors! I've NEVER had this much difficulty with paint!!!!

You get extra points if your avatar is farm-related. There is something peaceful about cattle out in the field. I have neighbors who have a model Jersey in their backyard. I love looking at it.

I have searched for and found several online nursery websites that sell bulbs and perennials but I want to be sure my plants and flowers are healthy when they arrive at my home. Any recommendations or experiences (good or bad) would help me find a nursery that I can trust to deliver the best so I can plant them with confidence in my own garden! - - Anyone??? - -

We have waaaaay too much clothing at our house. We are always giving clothing items away and we still seem to have too much. Where can I find a good guideline about how many of each item it is good to have? I would like to read up on this before it is time to buy fall clothing. Thanks in advance!
