And do they really get them clean?

God I just saw a special about it on one of the morning news shows either Good Morning America or the Today Show. Dry cleaning isn't dry. The clothes get thrown into an industrial washer with cleaning solvent (instead of soap and water)and get tossed around for a while. The solvent drains off and the clothes are dried in the same machine. The clothes are taken off and move onto pressing, either hand or machine press depending on what you paid for. Supposedly they are clean but that depends on how much the solvent is reused. The solvent is supposed to be more effective at removing dirt but gentler on the fabric than detergent and water.

Haha, my mom once told me exactly why going to a dry cleaners is a waste of money. She worked a dry cleaners back in the 60's or 70's. They'd just put the "dry clean only" items in the washer/dryer on the gentle cycle. Haha.

They are "cleaned" in chemicals which are pretty disgusting.
What's even worse, is your clothing is "cleaned" with other peoples'
Sick, eh?
When you get them home, air dry them on a porch if possible before you wear them so some of the chemical stench can get out of them.

they use solvent instead of water

the more expensive a cleaner you go to the more chance you have of getting clean clothes

What they really do is hang them outside and let the wind, dust and sand pelt the stains from your clothes. If it's a nice outfit they'll let their daughter where it to school or on a date.
