One or two years ago, I purchased a teapot on Ebay. Since the design was a UNIKAT, and since I didn't find any references to specific manufacturers in my reading, I assumed it was high quality. The teapot developed cracks around the botton inside . I assumed that I might have thermally abused the pot. Now there is crackling on the underide of the pot's lid, so thermal abuse is unlikely.
After this experience, I don't know if I want to invest in any more of this type of stoneware.
I would like other people's opinions. Is this a common occurence? Are some manufacturers producing poor qualities of goods? Could this have been originally a "Seconds"? (I assumed such would not be sold, or would be marked as such.)
Some of my other peices showed crackling, but since these were small dishes and boxes, I assumed they weren't for eating anyway, so it wasn't an issue.
Do I deserve a replacement by the seller?
