The previous responder was close, but just a little short of the finish. I repair this stuff for a living, so I've seen a few of these things, and I've never seen one that just pulls off the shaft. After you have the screw out, (he was correct about that part,), the chuck will unscrew, probably the same way as the screw came out. If it's a reversible drill motor, then the chuck should be left handed threads as well. If it doesn't break loose easily, and they seldom do, then take an allen wrench, as big as you can get into the open chuck, and tighten down the chuck jaws on it. You may have to hit the end of the allen wrench with a hammer a few times to get the threads to break free. The new one should install easier.

Hi Kally

The best way to remove the chuck is to fully open the chuck, and you will see a screw at the bottom of the chuck. Note the type of screw and use the appropriate screwdriver. Turn the screw clockwise because it usually a left hand threaded screw, and than pull out the chuck and replace it with a new keyless chuck. Put the new in the same way only in reverse order.

Good luck

there should be a little tool with groves attached to the drill (probably on the cord). there will be a place this fits into near the tip of the bit. turn it using the tool and it will loosen or tighten depending on which way you turn it.

Pull it out. Or at least it should. if not cover your eyes and pull the trigger. Then pull it out of someone elses eyes.
