besides preventing pregnancy what are some of the other benefits of birth control pills. i have heard that they have other benefits such as shorter periods, more pleasant periods, clearer skin and but also i have heard that birth control pills can make you gain weight or make breasts grow larger so has anyone that has been on birth control expierenced any of these side effects or any other ones?

I'm 15, 5'1," and weigh 83 pounds. I've been told I need to gain weight. How much should I weigh? Also, even though I know I need to gain weight, I have a habit of counting my calories, so I feel guilty for EVERYTHING I put in my mouth, even if it's a banana or an apple. What should I do to help myself?

my 25 yo cousin is in the hospital with a hemoglobin level of 4 when normal is 16 een after 4 pints of blood.
they ruled out any infection or ulcer.

I recently got married, and I need to go to the gyno to get an exam in order to get on birth control. I'm nervous because I've never been before. Will the doctor think its strange that I haven't been before, even though I'm 23 years old? Has anyone else waited this long for their first exam?

I missed my period on jan 25, so i'm about 1 week late, came back from the obgyn said that im not pregnant, but to re-test in a week, the only symptom i have is that my right abdomen is hurting and my lower back hurts, on top of it all i was spotting today, just when i wipped, what the heck is going on?? a friend of my brothers was just here and while my brothers were outside, me and the friend were in the living room. well he was in the process of leaving and wanted to shake my hand so i did and all of a sudden he flips me around and pushes me over a chair while pulling my shirt up. i had the phone in my other hand and i was telling him to get the f**k off me when it rang thank GOD. so i answered it in a hurry because i was getting scared. so he jumps back and walks into the other room for a minute, comes back and asks me if i want to go with him. i'm freaked out right now. he's gone, but my question is should i tell my brothers about this? thats going to sound stupid to other people. he was drunk so i dont know if thats why he did it, maybe he was playing around, i dont know. i would appreciate some serious answers please.

Should I just find a plastic surgeon and schedule a consultation appointment? I do want our insurance to pay for this, so do I have to get a referral from my family doctor, because I would prefer to find my own doctor. Perhaps someone could relate their personal experience with this. Thanks!

I'm always the last one with everything, I'm the youngest, shortest, skinniest, lightest, last one to get my period, and I'm sick of it.
I only weigh 64 pounds, at 5"0, but it's not my fault, I eat normal, but I just don't gain, I am 14 years old. I'm sick of people saying are you anorexic, or how much do you weigh, or can I carry you, I don't want to gain any weight, but I don't want to lose any either, anyways my point is am I skinny, fat, very fat, or too skinny, or normal?

im 13 and have a history of breast cancer in my family, both my grandmas had it. when i get my period i get really bad cramps and pms and my period can also sometimes be on the 3rd one month then the next month it is the 30th.

I have been diagnosed to have a hormonal imbalance because I'm experiencing heavy periods. I had a nodule removed from my thyroid before and have regular blood tests for my thyroid but it's usually normal. My doctor advised me to take contraceptive pills but I've tried a number of brands but they mostly cause me headaches so I chose to stop taking it, that is, choosing heavy periods over headache.I just want to know the long term effect if I'll let it be.

I know that I am NOT PREGNANT and my thyroid is functioning properly according to blood tests.I have been having all the symptoms that I am going to be having my period each month but haven't had one in 4 months. I got black cohosh from local herbal store and was told that it will help. Has this worked for anyone else.I am 29 have my tubes tied and have never gone this long without a period, except when I was pregnant.

My freind on msn has a lump in her genital region, she says it feels the size of a tennis ball and is red with a purple bit and a black dot that may be a bite of some sort, she says its very hard to touch and is painful, so painful it brings her to tears. it has no puss or dis-charge coming from it.

shes going to the doctors tommorow, but in the meantime anyone know what it could be, of how to treat it in the mean time,

its also not an std, as shes still a virgin.

um i was wondering if this was normal while on the depo shot on the day i would have gotten my period i had one brigth spots of bright red blood then brown discharge, the next day i had little blood but then all brown discharge again, the following day i have been having dark red spotting then pink then brown again.. i was wondering if this is normal...i have ruled out pregnany since i have taken 4 pregnancy tests in the last month and all have been negative...
