She is female and around 17 years old (human years). She will just bend over and spray a liquid. I thought this was a male thing? She is also fixed (spayed), and there is three other female cats in our home besides her. I think it might be urine. Do cats sometimes urinate that way?

Its usually the male cats that will spray urine to "mark" his territory. All felines do this, from lions tigers to little fluffy.Female cats will do that also when they are "stressed" or not feeling well. There is a spray you can buy that will stop that habit, its called "Stay-Off "by Hartz Mountain" made from citrus oils that all cats HATE. Spray only the areas that she's using or where you don't want her to ruin like furniture etc. There 's also some good deodorizing spray available that works great.

male and female cats do it,thats is why they make people allergic to them by blowing up like a cow or running eyes or nose.
Just under the tail above the crap hole is another hole thats sprays the liquid. Many people don't even realize this and wonder why the cat smells up the home they live in, worst enough to deal with the crap and urine.

Female cats scent-mark too, but not usually when they're spayed. 17 is quite old for a cat. Perhaps she is becoming incontinent.
