Should I just find a plastic surgeon and schedule a consultation appointment? I do want our insurance to pay for this, so do I have to get a referral from my family doctor, because I would prefer to find my own doctor. Perhaps someone could relate their personal experience with this. Thanks!

make sure the plastic surgeon is covered under your insurance.

see at least THREE plastic surgeons before you choose.

check out http://www.breasthealthonline.com it has a breast reduction board and fAQ section that helped me out so much!

That site also has a "questions to ask your PS".

I had my breast reduction in Feb '06 and LOVE IT. I am so happy with no back pain I LOVE IT.

You would have to find out if your health insurance requires a referral for a specialist. Mine did not require a referral so I just went out on my own and found a great plastic surgeon.

If you are in the Northern Virginia area I have a great recommendation!

Good luck on your journey!

I'd call your insurance company and ask for a list of surgeons who are in your network. Then you can get consultations with a few of them and choose from there. I was blessed to find my surgeon in one try, and he was brilliant! Good luck!

While I've never performed this on myself, the best way is to cut your chest open with an x-acto knife and suck out the contents through a drinking straw.
