Talk to a doctor. Go to your family doctor, if you are comfortable enough with him or her. Otherwise find a gynecologist, or some other health professional who could best help you.

Ask your doctor; especially a Gyn.
Generally, they don't put someone your age on birth control because you're in the beginning years of your period and your system is not stable yet.

My periods were the same way when I started. They gradually got better.
You can take medicine for the PMS and cramps. I use the store brand PMS medicine that has Acetaminophen and two diuretics. It works great for my cramps and PMS. You can also use a heating pad for your cramps.

You should go to a Gynocologist, and ask all these questions... It's important to go over all the options before you go on it. There are medicines out there that help with you flow besides birth control pills.
go to: http://mayoclinic.com/ and you can look into medicines and side effects.... good luck!
