I break out really bad sometimes. I wash my face well every night. Anyone else have this problem. As a teenage it is expected, but at 22 years old?? (NOTE: I also had acne as a teenager)

I am not overweight. I am 155lbs and very athletic. I have a very attractive body. That is not the reason. Why would you assume that I was overweight? Not only is that very unintelligent of you, but that is also very rude.

My sister is 27 and has had problems with "acne" since she was a teen and nothing worked for it. And she, too, is healthy otherwise and washes her face morning and night. She was finally referred to a dermatologist last year and found out that it wasn't acne at all, but a type of dermatitis. A tiny bottle of prescription cream and it was gone. She doesn't even have to wear makeup now. Yeah, go to a dermatologist. They'll be able to tell you exactly what it is and how to get rid of it. =)

For starters, I highly doubt you are over weight... and I am the same age as you and I still get break outs occasionally... mostly when I menstrate. I think genetics have a lot to do with skin complexion and acne. Also your diet, location, stress.... there are so many contributing factors. If it is a big problem, see a dermatologist (if you talk to your physician first they can refer you to some one good, and it is usually a free consult, and you skip those stupid wait times). Perhaps you could even try a different wash meant for acne. All the best!

I am a few years older than you and still have breakouts -- it sucks! BUT I have started using Proactive and LOVE it! I saw results in just a week -- Just make sure you are honest with them (the proactive people) when you order, about your skin type. Hormones and stress play a really big factor too. Try to de-stress. Either way - here is my advice ... If you are oily - wash and tone 2x a day and skip the moisturizer - let your natural oils do the trick -- if you are dry to combo - wash, tone and moisturize 2x a day -- Drink lots of water -- dehydrated skin doesn't work like its supposed to! and NEVER sleep with makeup on ... your skin tries to heal itself at night and you rob it of that precious time and air if you sleep with makeup on! Hope this helps ... and what an a** the first guy was --- whatever!

I'm 17 and have had acne since i was around 13. My younger years it was more mild just a few here and there and it got worse. It spread to my whole face and was an embarrassment every time i looked in the mirror. Then i got on accutane which is kind of expensive but well worth the results. Now i don't have acne and no more breakouts.

Ive had to take accutane twice, and i still had acne after the treatment. If you havent gone to a dermatologist, check one out, they can greatly help many people. On the contrary, i have had more luck on my own trial and error investigations. Ive tried it all, and im telling you, Sait Ives Apricot scrob followed by Sea Breeze acne astringent, and Clinique night time acne treatment will clear you up in a week or two. It sounds cheap, but it worked for me after spending $200 on other stuff. I have also heard proactive is great, though i am allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide. Give my cheap combo a shot. Also, if you notice a lot of acne on your cheeks, dont hold your cel phone against your face. Bacteria are all over it and can cause breakouts, The way to clear it up is to kill the bacteria. Hope it works for you!!!

My daughter is 26 and she still gets breakouts. I don't think it goes away with age, hormones have an effect on your skin and I think that is a big part of adult acne. She tried Proactiv but seem ed to be breaking out more, it was too strong for her skin and when we called to inquire if that was normal was told to wait 6 weeks and then if it continued to stop usage. They said it was part of the program to slough off dead skin cells. She uses a product made by Naturemade, much better results. Good luck.

well it could be stress or the food that you eat. the more stress i am under the worse the break out and i turn 22 on the 13th. also if you eat greasy foods or sugary foods you will get breakouts. also try exfoliating and then using a non-greasy natural lotion, baby lotion works good.unfortunately acne can come back at any time.
