My mother in law has lupus. She mostly get the breaking out of the itchy spots on her arms and legs.
here is some information for you that I found. Your Cousin is in My prayers.
*Lupus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that can affect virtually any system in the body. Think of it as a 'self-allergy' where the body attacks its own cells and tissues, causing inflammation, pain, and possible organ damage.
* Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood, and kidneys. The body's immune system normally makes proteins called antibodies to protect the body against viruses, bacteria, and other foreign materials. These foreign materials are called antigens. In an autoimmune disorder such as lupus, the immune system loses its ability to tell the difference between foreign substances (antigens) and its own cells and tissues. The immune system then makes antibodies directed against "self." These antibodies, called "auto-antibodies," react with the "self" antigens to form immune complexes. The immune complexes build up in the tissues and can cause inflammation, injury to tissues, and pain.
For most people, lupus is a mild disease affecting only a few organs.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease. It is not a death sentence. It can be controlled with immunosuppressive drugs (ie: prednisone, methotrexate, plaquenil, etc). It is a disease where your immune system starts attacking various parts of your body (various systems - muscular, vascular, etc).
If your cousin does have lupus they can control it. They will most likely have an idea after running several autoimmune type tests (ANA, Sm, DS DNA, etc.).
It's hard to say what is wrong with her, but if she is in the hospital, then at least she is getting immediate treatment and they will do the best they can to find what is wrong with her.

Lupus is called the disease of 1000 faces. It has so many different ways that it can affect people. It can cause a red shape on the face and go from there to the joints hurting and causing kidney failure. This is not a disease to play with.

if they cannot find a bleeding place. it is possible that she has an auto immune disorder. althought there are many types this can be a symptom. my mom in law has almost no white blood cells. kinda like your cuz. her hemoglobin is dying off to fast. they put my in law on predisone and chem pills. and now she is fine. your cuz needs to see a rhumotologist.
