so, my mom received 2 dui's in may of 2006. she has a history of alcoholism. she had her license revoked after receiving the dui's, lives in a somewhat rural area, and my dad is supporting her financially. she has become severally depressed. she went through 2 weeks of rehab, and was released. before thanksgiving, my dad took her to the grocery store, and she stole some wine. she hasn't drank since, but my dad is becoming completely emotionally/financially drained. her legal fees and insurance are ridiculous. she sleeps all day, started taking lexapro, and isn't even helping around the house. what should my dad and i do? my dad is having to take complete care of my siblings (5 & 7), supporting her financially, and is responsible for everything now. what advice should i give my mom? what should my dad do?

I've posted this question on here before. And I've promised my friend I'd stop but I can't. And the cuts I'm doing are bigger than they used to be. They used to be like a paper cut. Now there getting like I had an accident. Counselers are making it worse, not helping. And talking to my friends and stuff is useless. They're absolutely no help. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT SUGGESTING TO TALK TO MY PARENTS!!! They're probably the reason it's happening. But what can I do to stop? Hide my knifes? Get rid of them? What?

How do I keep my sanity during a divorce? I have been married 25 years. I have been faithful, loving, supportive, beared children, contributed financially (I was active duty USAF), cooked, cleaned, did my female duties, and my husband hates me. I got very sick and was medically retired from the Air Force. I have a disease in which currently there is no cure, but I am left with daily horrible pain. I am on narcotics to control the pain. I have never abused the medication - in fact I should be taking more than I do. My husband gave me a choice. Either I get off the medication or he gets a divorce. I consulted a doctor, and he said my husband really didn't give me a choice. When I am in uncontrolled pain ,my immune system goes haywire and I get very ill. So he wants a divorce.
He keeps telling me how he wants to do this amicably. \

I'm always looking for things that is wrong in my life. And if I'm happy it's not for long. cause i try to find the negative in that. I don't trust a lot of people. But the people I do trust I can get a bit clingy. If i think of something long enough I'll let it consume me. I don't want to take any medication and be all dope up all day. There's got to be another way. can anyone relate?

I often get headaches just by going out for a while where there is lots of people. Even if i don't interact with them.

I used to get them too back when i was a student. I'm 27 now.

Is there a relation to having headaches and being shy?

I'm not sure if and how to tell if my sister has an addiction to cocaine, and if she does, what do I do to help her?? She did it the first time in July of 06, her and a couple of my friends had been doing it like once on the weekend until recently our friends don't do it, and she wont hang out with us unless there is coke, and now she does it more than once a week. She is 24. and our dad is an alcoholic, and she has always been a drinker , so i know she has addiction problems, do you think she is addicted, what can I do before it gets worse??

What can I do to get rid of this addiction. Every time I vow to quit I always get the urge after a few days...Sometimes I want to beat myself for doing something stupid like this, but I realize it's a problem. What are some ways you would tackle this issue? I feel terrible, but that's probably because I'm not in a relationship.

I have been working overnights now for three years and while I have been able to adapt, I still have trouble getting sleep. I have tried melatonin, relaxing music, silence, sleeping masks and the like. I come home from work but can't go to sleep right away and then when I get ready to go to sleep I hit a major second wind and am functioning again. I seem to get more rest from short cat naps lately and before I go to work I lay down to rest but never really go to sleep. This can't be good. Any advice would be helpful.

For a long time I have wondered if the human body could function without sleep. I know that we dream but what is the body doing while we are in that state of unconsciousness? Repairing itself? I know sleep is considered essential, but it seems as though so much of our lifetimes are wasted when we sleep. What is the bigger picture that I am missing?

If you ask what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn't ask me, I'd still have to say it.

I just saw this press release from the Liberty Counsel, a conservative Christian legal group that sponsors a "Day of Purity" to encourage teen chastity.

The part I find upsetting is that they seem to think something is wrong with giving young women the Gardasil vaccine to prevent HPV. Of *course* abstinence means they won't get HPV, but why deny grls this medical advance or act like it encourages "sin"? Why can't they promote both abstinence *and* the vaccine?
