I have experienced this for many years - I have good days bad days and weeks/months/etc the latter is not that often I am afraid to say. However, I receive the most fantastic help with a person I can be totally honest with and he has never ever been judgemental of me. Basically, he points to the things I have achieved in life - however small and gives me the praise of which I deny myself. I come away from this type of relationship feeling more positive (however short this may last) yet knowing that somebody fully understands me. So I would suggest you find that somebody and listen and try to understand that they are hopefully not being judgemental of you. It is a pretty awfull state to be in and when I have a severe episode of recurring traumatic depression, the world and all sometimes can not help - its up to me to 'get it together', sometimes I cannot and that is when I have to see my friend. So all I wish you is a better tomorrow and strength to fight this symptom and pat yourself on the back for being so open about a fact that is all to often rarely spoken about. Good Luck to you.

How long is a peice of string ?...
It will be dependent on the therapeitic regimen you are undertaking.
If you are not looking at the cause of your depressive response to the cicumstances that initiated your depression, and just medicating the problem away, then it is unlikely that you will be fully free in the forseeable future.
Each time a similar situation occurs you may find that your response is a depressive rather than an active one in which you change your situation into one in which you can be genuine with and to yourself.

Depression does eventually lift but as you are finding it can take quite a while before you really start to feel better and can function fully. Some believe that depression is the end state of long term anxiety and stress, and in your case resolving stress issues will be vital in getting well. Cognitive therapy is a very good adjunct to drug therapy (sometimes as good as), its main strength lies in challenging negative and unhelpful thought patterns so that difficulties with self esteem and patterns of behaviour that lead to stress can be recognised and improved. I wish you well.

yes it does; round about 12 months after the episode you will realise that you have had several good days and they will increas ein number. it is gradual but by about 2 years you should be in the clear. I hope any meds that the doc has put you on are not ones that you will nedd for a long time (they do seem to do that) and you have been encouraged to do things like brisk walks everyday or the gym 3/4 times a week. the endorphins produced by the exercise will help lift you.

Just in the last 2 weeks, you have asked about your depression 15 times. Obviously, you want an answer that no one is giving you. Stop posting about this over and over and over and call your doctor.

Life in Christ can be fantastic without depression. All you need
is to come to Christ with repentance and obedience.
In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!

its different for everyone.. talk with the doc not with this lot, unfortunately its only a matter of time before you get insensitive comments. A problem shared is a problem halved...is true! Things will change
