Get up,..shake yourself and start doing something for someone else.

this cloud with soon dissipate,..and when it starts to form ,..each time, just accomplish an act of kindness, a show of selflessness, for someone else.

even if you have both legs cut off and flat on your back,..find a way to do something for someone else.

In my opinion the best way to overcome depression comes from self determination. I was extremely depressed at one point in my life. How I overcome it was through meditation and helping myself and others. Whenever I had a negative thought I would replace it with a positive one. At the time my life sucked pretty bad, so I had to find small things to be happy about, even if it was as simple the thought of how great a sweet apple is. My best advice it to be thankful. Being thankful is a true source of happiness. I stopped taking my pills through this method. May I also recommend a book called Happy People, very useful.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been suffereing for 20 years. 10 years ago, I started showing symptoms of depression and didn't get help until 3 years later. Now I'm being treated for anxiety. Keep going to therapy. If you aren't going you probably want to start. If you don't feel like your meds are working, talk to your doctor about a higher does or to be switched to a different med.

I don't believe that chronic depression can be cured only treated so that it doesn't affect your life.

Take care

Clonazepam is prescribed for panic attacks, anxiety, and seizures. If you have not taken anti-depressants for your 20 years of depression, it's time to get to a doctor and start.

If you were on antidepressants, and have now been weaned off by a doctor--start living your life. Keep in the present, plan for the future, and don't think about the past.

You just did it! You are seeking help, that's the first step. You can call your local hospital or social services center and tell them you're looking for a social worker in your area. Set up an appointment to talk with someone, they will get you started. You don't have to suffer for another 20 years. Good Luck!

You can go to Bible-believing church to learn God's way of living a fantastic and meaningful life. God loves you, and you are precious to Him. Do not short-change yourself by staying away from God.
