I was recently diagnosed with bipolar and 2 personality disorders. I recently have been proscribed Lithium along with other meds, but I was wondering if weird dreams and dreaming in general could be a possible side effect of Lithium. I'm just curious because 80% of the nights since I've been on Lithium I've had weird dreams. Just wondering!!

It's been going on for so long, this depression. I have no one to talk to about it, im in college so I'm away from home... but it's not like my mother was much of a mother anyhow. I cry myself to sleep every night. I can't go talk to a professional because my parents cannot find out. I'm the perfect child with the 4.0 and they will not approve without disowning.

Depression and anxiety are caused by an unbalance in brain neurotrasmiters. I suffer from both and I am taking medication. Recently I started to smoke cigarrettes. I was wondering if cigarrettes have a bad effect also in the neurotrasmiters, that will worsen my depression and anxiety. What is the effect of cigarrettes on the brain?

I just took her out of an afterschool program that I have been told is the "only" one in the area for her age group. I find that hard to believe considering the population size, and I want to find another one for her so I won't lose my job. We have a Case Manager through the Dept, of Mental Health...and that's a dead end. Any ideas?

I was looking through the web and it looks like some of the options are Conquering Stress, Panic Portal and the Linden Review. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any of these or other ones, and tell me about them. I have panic attacks and social anxiety disorder. I am overcoming the social anxiety disorder but the panic attacks seem to be increasing and becoming more severe. I have tried traditional therapy, which helped a little. I do not want to take prescription medications. I have tried a few and they just made me worse. In addition, if anyone has any tips on self-help for the onset/managment during a panic attack. Thanks!

I worry, I stress out unnecessarily, I feel like I drive people crazy around me. I procrastinate. The only time I am focused is at work. I have problems that cannot be resolved, actuallly just one big one. This problem has brought my life to a screaching halt. I have alot of small things in my life that I need to do and take care of that I cannot accomplish, I constantly think of these things. Then I go back to the big problem, which I feel has made my life miserable and I cannot do or accomplish anything else successfully becuase of what has happened to me. Like I said, I can focus at work and that is because I am busy.
I have been on prozac which I liked but it seems like after a year or so it stopped working. I was recently put on Lexapro. At first, I liked it then I became severely aggitated, I was in trouble at work because of my attitude. So I stopped taking it. Now, I don't really know what to do.

how many times do you think a person can attempt suicide and be saved, before they actually succeed? do you believe if the doctor told you, you should've died from all that, but didn't, does that mean you have a strong purpose to keep living?

i have NO self motivation whatsoever.
ever since i was little, i started homework at 9PM when i lived with my parents. now, i dont live with my parents anymore, i'm in highschool, and i have to deal with school along with those dreadful SATs. i met my parents over the summer, so they motivated me, and I got a 4.0 GPA last quarter. but now my parents' motivation has worn off, and i am starting to procrastinate VERY BADLY. my grade is going down the hill becuase i am procrastinating homework(which i usually dont finish), and i have not studied for SAT world history, which i am taking on december 2nd(but i have studied over the summer cus i was with my parents). i keep thinking procrastination is a mental disorder, but there is no such thing. are you really sure? and what are some ways to self-motivate?(other than self-rewarding system) and PLEASE, will someone tell me to get off my asht and start studying?

I don't think it's anything really serious, and I think it probably happens to other people too, so maybe someone knows what the correct medical term is for it so I can do some research on it....

Sometimes (rarely though) I "space out" for a few seconds. That's the only way I know how to describe it. Like sometimes when I'm going down the stairs, I'll get close to the botton and then space out and forget how many steps are left for me to step down. Or sometimes maybe I'll be standing in line somwhere and I'll space out for a few seconds and then suddenly "remember" that I'm standing in a line.

I know this sounds really really weird, but if anyone knows what this is, I'd appreciate some feedback.
