Well, like the others said, don't go cold turkey, the side effects are horrible and I say that from experience. I was on Paxil for 3 years for anxiety and I got off the meds cold turkey, not by choice, but because I went on a 2 week vacation and forgot them. For about 3 weeks straight, I had major withdrawals -- I would shake, couldn't think, sleep, couldn't hardly walk straight, major mood swings and for lack of better words, it was 3 weeks of hell. It did eventually get out of my system and afterwards I was fine, I havn't been on them since and I feel great. However, I would not recommend going cold turkey, you need to gradually ween off them. And yes, I do believe you can live life without them, but talk to your doctor first.

Do some research online for your meds and the ways people have gotten off them. Most anti-anxitey and anti-depressants are not safe to stop cold turkey. You will need to wean yourself slowly. Please consult a physician before you make a decision.

I don`t have a success story and can`t think of anyone who will.I ran out of zoloft recently and missed 3 days and it made me light headed, moody and upset stomach.I believe you should stick with a doctors plan to go off your meds slowly if at all.

Unless you are under a doctor's supervision, it is very foolish to stop medications for anxiety/depression. Those drugs are usually stepped down in smaller increments until the patient is weaned from them because of serious risk factors one of which is an increase in suicide.

Taper Taper Taper. I've experienced extreme vertigo for 2 days coming of an antidepressant.

WHY GO OFF THE MEDS.....YOUR BODY CAN REACT HORRIBLY.
AT LEAST TAPER OFF - I'VE TAKEN MEDS FOR ANXIETY FOR YEARS.....THEY HELP ME, WHY WOULD I STOP THEM AND BE MISERABLE?
I WISH YOU LUCK BUT COLD TURKEY IS NOT THE WAY TO GO.

You will change your mind. You will see just how much you needed them. If it were me, I would take the anti-depressant every other day (or half if it is a pill). Then, go every third day, etc. until you see if you can do without.

I'm pretty sure there are no success stories....if someone's got one I'd doubt the veracity.
