i have NO self motivation whatsoever.
ever since i was little, i started homework at 9PM when i lived with my parents. now, i dont live with my parents anymore, i'm in highschool, and i have to deal with school along with those dreadful SATs. i met my parents over the summer, so they motivated me, and I got a 4.0 GPA last quarter. but now my parents' motivation has worn off, and i am starting to procrastinate VERY BADLY. my grade is going down the hill becuase i am procrastinating homework(which i usually dont finish), and i have not studied for SAT world history, which i am taking on december 2nd(but i have studied over the summer cus i was with my parents). i keep thinking procrastination is a mental disorder, but there is no such thing. are you really sure? and what are some ways to self-motivate?(other than self-rewarding system) and PLEASE, will someone tell me to get off my asht and start studying?

Get off your freaking @ss, get the hell off yahoo answers and do your damn homework!
Dont you realize what school is all about? Its not about making friends and have a good time. School is sorting you out from everybody else. Its just about figuring who is smarter than who. If you keep up the road your on that dumb@*** kid that sits infront of you in math is going to have better grades than you, and he will get first dibs on the college you want. Only so many people get in you know. You want to jack around with your homework? How about your dream college jacks around with your resume? Nobody cares about potential, and what you could do if you tried. They just don't care. Nor should they. And if you tell yourself that your smart just because you got a 4.0 in the past, then you are telling youself lies. You know what? That was the past. that isnt now, and i bet you cant get a 4.0 again. Your not smart enough. JUST TRY TO PROVE ME WRONG!
Edit:
WHY ARE YOU THANKING ME?!?! I SAID GET OFF THE COMPUTER! lol just kidding. I have a bad problem with procastination too, so i just told you what my parents always tell me. Actually, ironically enough, I need to write a paper thats overdue in english, but i cant get myself off yahoo lol. Any advise for me?
Edit: O give me a break! How can i be indorsed by the asker, and still get two thumbs down? First they cancel the practice, and now this?!?!? WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?!?!?
Edit: O, and it has been 6 hours and i still havent brought myself to write my english paper...is that bad? LOL
Edit: Woohoo, its been 7 hours and i got my english paper done! Doubt anybody cares though. Bet my random edits are just going to get me more thumb downs.

Get off your asht and start studying.
Procrastination is usually the fear of not doing something perfectly. Do you think you have to get a 4.0 ? What if you got a 3.4, 3.6 or 3.8? Would that be ok. I think so.
But we all know that if you let things go, it only gets worse.
So, take a sheet of paper, list everything that has to be done, in baby steps. (eg, Chapter 1, Chap 1 review, Chap 1 book quiz, math pg 2, math problems 2- 5 etc. etc. etc.) right on down the line.
Take another sheet of paper and rank them according to importance of getting done. Or hardest to easiest, or easiest to hardest.
Start at the top of the list and check off as you finish.
You'll love the fact that you are making progress and it will go quicker as you get things done.
Take a break every 50 minutes of studying.
Take the SAT world history information and divide it by 25 (there are 25 days left). Make sure to do 1/25 of the material each night.
Good luck. I am a terrible procrastinator and live life on LISTS ! I will keep you in my thoughts !
If this is the info you need, thanks for reading, and please rate. Thank you.

agree with the firs answer (sorry but true)
However...you should make sure that you know WHY you are studying ...do you have a goal in studying? Is it just to get good grades or make your parents happy? which are all great...but I hope there is something you do enjoy or have a plan with it ....that would help the motivation if you find the reason why you are doing it? :)
Also...make sure you really get or understand what you are studying ...use a dictionary if you don't understand. Speaking from experiance..if you don't know the words you are studying or that are being used who the heck would want to keep going..I know I wouldnt! LOL
Keep your eye on your goal. You obviously can do it :)
Good luck!

You may have Attention Deficit Disorder or something along those lines. If you've been checked out by the doctor with a clean bill of health, then it could just be that it's harder for you to focus on what could be.
What I would do is as soon as I got home from school to immediately begin your homework. Set aside whatever time you need to complete it; make it part of your schedule before you do anything else. I know it's easy to get distracted when there are other things you want to do, but keep with it -- I have confidence in you.

It is not a mental disorder, you know that! And you know you are using it as an excuse to be lazy.
I'm a lazy person too, I can sympathise, but some things, like exams are important, so don't let being unmotivated spoil your chances.
Maybe listen to music while you study, take regular breaks, make yourself a study schedule and stick to it, or go to the library and out of the house into a different environment. Join a study group or study with friends?

Have you been to the Dr.? You could be depressed. Don't be too hard on yourself. Sometime things do seem insurmountable but just keep trying. Give yourself small achievable goals like study for 30 minutes (use a timer) then do something fun for a while then go back to it again.

I have ADHD. You say you have it slightly...either you have it or don't. I was like you before I was treated for it. You NEED to see a doctor since it seems to be affecting your life to that extent. They'll give you a bunch of tests to see what the diagnosis is. If it is ADHD, you get medicated and therapy. It improves your life dramatically. I also want to know how you think you have adhd, were you officially diagnosed?

Action comes before motivation. Do just a little and then a little more.
If you wait for motivation for something you don't want to do you could wait forever.
And on bad days, I --- gasp --- turn the computer off and it is amazing what I can accomplish!

firstly, chop your projects or study time into little bits. work for 20 minutes, then do something else for 5 minutes. that way, you have something to look forward to while you are studying. then, when you finish a project or chapter, give yourself a reward.....a game, maybe even that ice cream you wanted but didnt let yourself have...whatever motivates you. you just have to find somehting that motivates you.

placed electric alligator clips on the ends of your hands. Then, whenever you slack off, have somebody ask your self the frickin' hell out of you! i might think of you would be doing issues in a prioritized vogue very rapidly flat.
