Mental Health - October 2006

Is it mentally safe to travel with mental illness? I mean, is it wrong to get out of your daily routine and environment and try to have fun while being away? I have the opportunity to go out west and discover things like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, etc. I'm just worried that I'll have some kind of melt-down because of it. I'm scared that I'll be away from my doctor and therapist's care for 3 weeks. I'm pretty unstable emotionally and mentally but part of me still believes that the trip would be really fun! I'm not going alone, I'll have friends with me. I'm just scared that I'll be stuck out in the middle of nowhere (Redwood Forest?) and end up in some po-dunk town with an ancient mental hospital and they'll keep me for months. Are my fears unfounded? Has anybody else had these fears?

I tried it before and was given 100mg then, both in the morning and at night. It lowered my blood pressure to 65/35 (that's pretty darn low). That was several years ago. Now my doctor wants to try it again, but only 25mg at night to help me sleep. What experiences have you guys had?

I'm a junior in high school, and today during notes in history a kid (nerdy type, never talks) out of nowhere started to masturbate (everything was under the desk but from the other side of the room it was far too obvious) and he seemed to tune everything out, and i wondered if he even knew he was doing it. Is there a .. compulsive sexual disorder he might have?

I've know my boyfriend, well now fiance for 4 years. He started out as my best friend and then things progressed. He's had an ongoing battle with od'ing on cough medicine. He's no child, he's 25 and it's a serious addiction. HE verbally abuses me and makes me cry. He makes it out to be my fault if he has to go get them...if i would have cleaned the room...I'm currently paying all the bills too. Whenever I try and stop him sometimes I feel like he's going to hit me...he grabs my wrist really hard..pushes me into walls and doesn't care if i get hurt as long as he gets his pills. After getting his pills he may act like everythings fine...unless i get mad and then i'm just finding something to ***** about, or it's not hurting me..blah blah. He takes these pills as a box or two a day ..usually 8 at a time and then 8 more..30 minutes later...sometimes the whole box. He's had convultions, he's complained of chest pains...stomach pains..everything. I've always been right by his side to take ca

I seem to have problems concentrating. It has had a serious effect on driving (I keep getting distracted and as a result, failed my practicle test 5 times) I find myself driving along and going 'OOh whats that big white thing?'. I also feel its had an effect on my eductation, I can never 'knuckle down' and get some serious work done, i just get distracted all the time.

Is this a real medical condition? I would feel happier if I had a proper excuse for being so bad at some things...

I use this medication because it helps me sleep through the night. My doctor wont give me any other type of sleeping pills. Since taking this drug my memory has been very sluggish or I get total blockage of things and people that I should easily be able to recall. The decline in my memory skills started when I began this medication. 30 mg for 3 years and sluggish poor memory. Has anyone else noticed this side effect? This is very trouble some for me. I'm introducing a friend to someone and I've forgotten the friends name. Meal preparation is slower because it takes me longer to remember what is the next step. I have to constantly retrace my steps trying to figure out what was it that I needed in this room. I'm frustrated and want to quit this drug but I dont know what to substitute in its place because without it I cant sleep through the night. Can anyone offer me their suggestion.
Thankyou I'm very grateful.
