Mentally can vary from person to person. Me, I felt like the world was crumbling around me, and did not trust anyone. I was very parnoid about people. Emotionally, I cried a lot! Physically I stopped eating, and did not sleep. I went a period of 3 weeks with like an hour of sleep per day.

Yes! When I was going through perimenopause, I got into a SCREAMING argument with my husband over absolutely nothing. When I stormed out of the house, I began crying -- for four straight HOURS!! I quickly realized something was wrong, had my husband call the doctor and we went straight there, with me still crying!! The doctor ended up giving me a tranquilizer shot and a prescription for Xanax.

I was terribly scared, because I knew something was not right, I wasn't really sad, but I COULD NOT stop myself from crying. Apparently my hormones had triggered some emotional response that rampaged out of control. Very weird.

I also occasionally get these odd states where I feel like I am totally "outside" of my own self, watching me do things. Usually when I am SUPER overtired and have traveled somewhere different, so I feel "lost" and disassociated. Deep breathing, a quick nap and I'm usually back to "normal".

Hope this answers your question.
