THERE IS A 7 YEAR WAITING PERIOD FOR A MEDICATION TO BECOME GENERIC. I AM NOT SURE WHEN EFFEXOR INITIALLY CAME OUT BUT IF YOU FIND THAT OUT THE PATENT IS UP. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

No, not in the U.S. but you might want to contact Wyeth Pharmaceuticals and ask them. I believe there's a generic available in Canada at an online pharmacy but I can't vouchsafe for purity or efficacy of the product.
