If you have this condition can you tell me what type of doctor I need to go see if i think i have it? do I talk to my family physician or is there a certain kind of doctor i need to go see?

IF you have borderline personality disorder it must be diagnosed by a medical doctor, psychiatrist or psychotherapist. It is not an easy diagnosis and is often a matter of eliminating other possibilities. For treatment you might see both a psychiatrist and a psychologist for therapy. Many people with Borderline also go to group therapy. Your family physician can be involved as well and should be and may be a good place to begin to find out if you truly have this personality disorder.

you'd have to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist, and generally BPD people have to take a combination of anti-depressants in order for the meds to work. Good luck, it's admirable to seek help when you think you need it.

You can talk with a psychologist, a certified mental health counselor, or a psychiatrist (needed only if you are to be prescribed meds).

I'd go to your family doctor; then he'll refer you where to go; most places want referals these days anyway.
