It is said that if you have pain in Achilles tendon you should put on ice. It is just to stop the pain or is there also a healing function?

I had direct knee to pipe contact and now it hurts to bend my knee pretty much at all. Keeping the leg straight keeps me from any pain, but the pain is pretty severe with any movement. If you poke it, it doesn't hurt and the kneecap feels fine. It seems like it is something inside the knee. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow but just wondering what type of injury im looking at, any suggestion is welcome, thanks!

It just all of a sudden started tonight and it comes and goes. However it seems to come when I'm trying to go to sleep. It kind of moves all around, from my shoulders to my side, to the front, to my back, but all on the left side. And when it's worse is in the lower back, just above my bottom. Any ideas?

The dorm room I'm in has triple furniture (bunk beds), and since I am not used to being in such a cramped room, I have accidentally hit my head several times against the beds (one has a desk underneath it, everytime I want to work at that desk I accidentally hit my head). It has been two days and the pain is still excruciating. I have been taking Advil, and I have just started icing the area as well. Help! I don't know what to do.

I just had a wisdom tooth removed and am taking Hydrocodone for pain right now. The label says HYDROCO/APAP Tab 7.5 500. I have a mild fatty liver and wanted to know if It would be bad to keep taking this stuff. Its says once every 4 hours, but It seems one does almost nothing, so I've been taking 1 1/2 or 2 and thats been working. Is this going to cause more damage or should it be OK? I just have another days worth of pills left.

I am having what I believe to be nerve pain in my right arm. It goes from my shoulder into my fingers but is most pronounced in my forarm. I have a thyroid problem (tumor on the right of my thyroid and I had a biopsy done and the results were non diagnostic because the did not get enough cells) and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced something similar?

Back in about February or of last year, i experienced really bad pain in my back. It was all over my back. The slightest movement of my back, was so painful. And if i was sitting to watch a movie, to move in the couch was agony let alone push myself up and adjust myself in the seat.
If i were stooping down, i couldn't get up on my own without holding onto something sturdy, and that was horribly painful! I wasn't playing any sports at the time nor was i sick, or doing much to injur my back. After about two months or so it went away. I couldn't even do the dish washer, it hurt so badly. Anyway, i thought it was an exercise i found on the internet, that i wasn't doing right that made my back that way. But a girl in my gym says shes experiencing really bad pain in her back [she does sports] and my mum says she, too is experiencing it. Just helping me make my bed was painful for her, and she suggested that it might be some sort of virus going on.
wondering, anyone else experienced this?

I have this large bump on the side of my face, it's about the size of a golf ball. It's recently turned red, and it's been growing pretty rapidly lately. It definitely hurts, chewing and turning my neck to a certain degree usually make it hurt. Naturally it just feels weird and hurts a bit, but depending on how distracted I am, I can forget about the pain at times. It's been growing for about 3 weeks now, and in the beginning it was realllly tiny.

Anyway, I went to urgent care, and the doctor told me it was an ingrown hair and to take some antibiotics for 2 days, and then go to the ER if it doesn't get better. I don't really feel that it's an emergency, some people have serious problems, so why should I take precedence over someone who actually needs the help right that minute. So, I'm asking you folks online exactly what you think. Everyone I've talked to has said it's not an ingrown hair, and that I should go to the doctor, but I trust internet people.

I'm not positive what pain I'm having right now is muscle pain. I'm a dancer, so it's still a vaild question because I live with muscle pain! Right now it's something in my shoulder rotator cuff. It sounds a little like tendonitis (hurts top and front of shoulder, hard to reach across body and especially overhead) I don't really know though... - so is heat or ice better for both tendonitis and muscle pain?

And I usually sleep with a heating pad on my back or neck, and it cuts off by itself in two hours. I usually don't leave it on for the full two hours because I get hot. It's the only way I can get my back muscles to relax and it feels great, but I hear it's bad to use a heating pad on the same area daily. True? Why?
