I have 2 herniated disks, and the first thing to do is to make sure you do not sleep on your stomach. That can easily cause back pain. If you sleep on your back, place a pillow behind your knees, or if you sleep on your side, place the pillow between your knees. This helps keep your spine better aligned while you sleep.

While you should really see a doctor to find out the cause of your pain, most back pain is caused by weakened or deconditioned muscles. Following a program designed to strengthen your core (ab and back) muscles could make all the difference in the world. If interested, you might want to check out http://www.YourHealthyBack.com .

Hope that helps,

your mattress maybe old and not supporting your back. You may need a new mattress. At night take a hot bath with 2c. of Epsom salts to relax the muscles. In the morning do some stretches. I've enclosed a link for the stretches. This should help with the pain. Advil liquid capsules work very quickly for pain and inflammation, you can take these four times daily.

It could be that your mattress need to be replaced. I have had back pain for over a year now, and went through facet joint blocks steroid injections), myelogram, discograms, and physical therapy. None of the procedures I listed helped. I do go to a chiropractor regularly, and you wouldn't believe the relief just after one visit. I was skeptical at first, and thought they were all quacks, but I highly recommend them now. I was doubled over walking at a 90 degree angle until I went to the chiropractor, after one adjustment, I was able to stand upright. I now take my 3 year old daughter in for neck adjustments (she was getting bad ear infections), she calls it getting her neckles cracked and getting the popcorn out of her ears, she absolutely loves it and has not had an ear infection since, and the ears no longer are impacted with wax, they drain on their own now! Good luck to you, and I hope you get to feeling better.

P.S.......Please try to stay off the pills, they mask the pain, you think you are better, then do something and end up worse once the pain pills wear off!! Been there, done that!

Stretch! Reach your hands upward as though you were doing a hand over hand on a monkey bar. I also lay my upper body down over my thighs with my head hanging over my knees and let my muscles stretch out. You may want to get an exercise ball and lay over the top of the ball for starters and then roll on your back on the ball.
Also look on the net for other exercises too.

Feel better!
